U.S. Election Season - anybody game?
  • And obama once again circumvented the US constitution by signing the dream act. I wonder why obama didn't just give them all Hawaiian birth cirtificates.

I'm starting to think the Republicans should rename their party the Rape-publicans. Next thing you know we'll be seeing people wearing t-shirts that say "rapists for Romney". But seriously people, this is no laughing matter:

Bill Maher discussing what if we elect Romeny:

  • Stephen Colbert and Bill Maher again? I guess obama isn't the only one running on fumes.
  • YellowRoseYellowRose October 2012
Patrick, I'm just trying to lighten the mood with a little comedy. Didn't you like that movie "Religulious"?! That guy Bill Maher cracks me up.

Cymbeline, yes it is Mourdock who said those idioitic comments about rape. The Republicans here are trying to do all kinds of crazy shi*t like adding a "personhood" amendment to our constitution. This would essentially make stem cell research, invitro fertilization, and possibly even birth control illegal. They need to do that in order to overturn Roe vs. Wade because they would need to re-define what "viability" is. They carry this logic further into the realms of rape now. Paul Ryan, who is the VP on the Romney ticket, co-sponsored a bill with Todd Akin (the "legitimate rape" and "women's bodies have a way of shutting that thing down" comment guy) to re-define rape. At that time, they were trying to put in language which would only allow abortion if the rape was "forcible"?! WTF?! It's insane and puritanical.

  • YellowRoseYellowRose October 2012
I got to shake hands with bad ass Bill Clinton today! I think wearing black fingerless fishnet arm gloves may have helped! Old Bill had a lot of hands to choose from and very few out of the crowd were shaken, but I knew he wouldn't resist those fishnet arm gloves! It was a bummer that Obama had to cancel due to the storm, it would've been cool to see them both in one day.

  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope October 2012
Wow!!! How'd you do that??? Lol xxx
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope October 2012
Oh the gloves. Get em while we can?? Lol

Listen, I know bill is a kiss blower too. I saw him blow a kiss to someone right before going behind curtain to exit after his convention speech
  • YellowRoseYellowRose November 2012
Yeah, I saw that article Cymbeline. Just another example of how ignorant these people are. There was actually a really good segment about the Republicans' war on sanity on Lawrence O'Donnell last month. Here's a link to the video if you want to really see just how crazy all of this is:

For anyone who is experiencing the wrath of hurricane Sandy, or feels for the victims for that matter, please be aware of what Gov. Romney's stance on the issue of FEMA funding is/was:

He basically would have us believe that private industry would be better equipped to handle natural disasters than the federal government. Oh sure! The private sector wouldn't worry about their bottom line first before worrying about saving lives right?! What a joke! That's the "small government" republicans for you. By the way, Gov. Romney was asked about his position on FEMA over 14 times on Tuesday at his campaign rally turned "relief event". He refused to answer the question. Low and behold, his handlers put out a statement today reassuring voters that he would not dismantle FEMA. Should we trust him? I think not. His running mate has voted to de-fund FEMA repeatedly and this is not a good idea for America.
  • PatrickinHoustonPatrickinHouston November 2012
When it's all said and done, it's the private sector that fixes the mess. If anything, FEMA only slows the process down, and as always wastes millions while doing very little.
  • YellowRoseYellowRose November 2012
So if anyone's been reading this besides PatrickinHouston (because I know he doesn't think Huffington Post is real news so this will be irrelevant to him)...What do you guys think about the craziness in our election system? It seems like it is much worse than in other recent elections this year. There's a group called True the Vote who is funded by some of the same people who fund the Tea Party. They and other groups (one of which is working directly for Gov. Romney) are calling themselves "poll obsevers" seem to be conducting activities designed to cause chaos at the polls:
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/03/early-voting-north-carolina_n_2069171.html

It is disturbing as well that Mitt Romeny handed out "training packets" to these so called poll observers which contained false and misleading information -this is not the only state this is happening in either:
    http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/10/30/1106961/romney-wisconsin-poll-watchers/

Then there was chaos today on Florida's last day of early voting which caused longer lines and a two hour stopping of voting:
    http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/florida-bomb-squad-detonates-suspicious-packages-found-outside-204336465--election.html

I just hope we don't have a repeat of 2000 with a big mess of re-counts and law suits again. Although, I partly suspect this could be the "constitution dangling by a thread" that the Mormon "white horse prophecy" needs for their little prophecy to occur. Then Mitt can come riding in on his "white horse" to save the country - yeah right?! They won't get away with it. The Democrats and watch dog organizations for minorities have thousands of lawyers all over the country keeping track of all of this.

  • YellowRoseYellowRose November 2012
Victory for Obama! I knew it wouldn't be a problem. So glad he mentioned the long voting lines in his speech and said we "need to fix that". I was in FL over the past weekend and it was unbelievable the things that were happening down there. Miami had 6 - 9 hour waits for early voting on Saturday and people were getting their cars towed. The mayor ordered pizza for the voters. This election really was a victory for democracy. The Republicans dream of taking us backwards didn't work out and there is a backlash against the radical Tea Party some of whom were voted out.

The future for the Republicans is big question mark. Mitt Romney's concession speech (which would've been crafted by the party itself) was clearly steering people towards a more moderate attitude. Saying that the country is obviously changing. They know they have to appeal to minorities and women but I don't see how they can do that and still keep the radical side of their base happy.

Virginia has also been called now for Obama and thank you Massachusetts for getting rid of that jerk Scott Brown and putting Elizabeth Warren in! Harry Reid, I hope you'll do what you said and get your fellow Senators to vote to change filibuster rules in the new session so the Democrats can keep moving the country forward. Thanks to Cuomo for changing the rules in New York for displaced Sandy victims to be able to vote at any precinct. Democracy really won today.
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Hey yellow, do you happen to know what the final tally was on electoral votes? I didn't stay up for all the states and was just relieved thinking "FINALLY, an election where we didn't have to wait or count on FLORIDA!!!"
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Oops, yeah, sorry fla not this time!! In fact, lots of those ppl still in line to vote by time he won it xxxx in my area it was fast and easy, no lines
  • YellowRoseYellowRose November 2012
Certainly a relief to not have Romney in there Cymbeline. Yeah Skyblue, he won the popular vote and the electoral vote. The Senate now has a record number of women, including the first openly gay woman, Tammy Baldwin! The Tea Party lost big time - still waiting to find out if that psycho Michelle Bachman is going to get kicked out. Marijuana for personal use was legalized in Washington state and Colorado. Massachusetts voted for medical marijuana. Maine and Maryland are the first states by popular vote to legalize gay marriage. Lots of progress made and the Republicans are going to have an internal war within their party to decide how they will ever be able to be a majority party again.
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Their best bet would be a Colin or a Condoleezza.the youth minority vote played a huge part also of Obama victory, and could play to advantages to a "minority" (meant statistically so far) for gaining trust in overall party anymore. A huge slap in the face to all the hate extremists mostly (like the whole middle RED states still in country.) lol joking only xxxx
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Okay maybe I shouldn't if said that. That's why politics always such a sensitive topic xxx
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
You know what, yes, I should've said that. I'm not walking around on egg shells over every little word might bother someone if I know I had well intentions xxxx
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Ok im falling asleep to playing poker. Maybe I should allow myself a rare nap in this snowy/slushy weather right now. Zxxx
  • YellowRoseYellowRose November 2012
Colin endorsed Obama and I don't think he much agrees with the current Republican platform. Condi is a token and it's insulting to minorities the way the Republicans think if they just throw an African-American or a Hispanic in there that they will appeal to those demographics.

It's not wrong to point out the truth of things sky. I live in one of the red states and the racial tensions and bigotry have stronghold in many of these states. The reasons the Republicans are going to have such a problem is that they think they just need to change the language their using or their messaging. In reality, they need to change their worldview and I just don't see that happening. What do you think PatrickinHouston?

As Bill Maher so rightfully pointed out last night, these conservatives have been living inside a Fox News bubble for so long that they don't know of anything else. That's why Karl Rove acted so surprised that Romney lost, and the believers in the so called "skewed polls" were so shocked that Obama won. If they would listen to other news they would've seen all of this coming. I've been saying for a month that Nate Silver's predictions were right (because I've looked at his data and see that is scientific), and he was correct on 50 out 50 states. He knew minorities were being under-sampled and that the idea that democrats were being over-sampled didn't add up. Maybe some of those Fox News watchers will figure out that they've been being lied to and will quit watching it.

Bill Maher says the election was a victory for pot, gay marriage, and math!

In other good news, we have now elected our first Buddhist to the Senate (Mazie Hirono - D- Hawaii)!! Also, our first Hindu to the House of Representatives (Tulsi Gabbard - D- Hawaii)!!
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
well, the reason I suggest Powell isn't actually because of his skin color, he's a clever man. Stepped down from the second gwb term and smartly endorsed the winning "horse" twice now. He knows national security, he has alot of things in his favor. I wonder if he planning all along just for right time like a chess move, thinking three steps ahead or more. He has a very intelligent demeanor and not too crass or too tough at times like Christie. It would depend on who he was running against, but I'd be giving Powell serious consideration for my vote as long as he leaves the women alone or, as is if not better. Overall, people respect him and so far an untainted reputation personally, no scandals that I've ever heard of. But then again, I wanted Hillary over Obama in the first place, so if it was a CLINTON vs Powell, I'd be torn but id have to go with the Dems again.

I hear you PrettyBoyFloyd. It's too bad we can't move the world away from all the unrest and violence more quickly. At this point though, I think at least it's progress. This election I feel was a big turning point. The people of America have spoken and rejected the extreme ideas of the unfeeling, cold, irrational, greedy, right wing. Sure, Obama could have done more his 1st term, but I think he realizes these shifts in our culture are going to have to happen in stages. To give him credit he signed a fair pay act for women, refused to uphold the defense of marriage act (a step in giving gays the right to get married), repealed "don't ask don't tell" (a huge move towards defeating intolerance of gays in the military), saved the country from what could've been another great depression (due to Bush's 2 wars on the credit card), passed an early version of universal  healthcare, ended the war in Iraq, and tried to pass immigration reform (which he was stone-walled on by the republicans). Oh, and the democrats tried to pass a G.I. Jobs Bill to help returning veterans find work, but the republicans protested this as well.

So maybe we're moving in the right direction now. Although, I do wonder what's going to happen to all the crazies when we get this thing rolling I think if all of us who believe in Civil
Rights and equality would band together and register more voters we
could put an end to the madness.

At least  he has a mandate now. Plus the leverage over congress because of the fiscal cliff (or as some say the fiscal curb to step off of for a minute).

Barack Obama is the only Democratic candidate for president since FDR to twice win more than 50 percent of the national vote:

Prepare yourselves for the United Socialist States of America.

That's the kind of race baiting I'd expect from Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson, but I guess these days any democrat can get away with it.

  • YellowRoseYellowRose November 2012
Oh Patrick, just the kind of talk I would've expected. Yeah we're headed for the dreaded socialism now. I mean, let's not even think about the kind of fascism the country just rejected. I am so glad Secretary of State of Ohio, Jon Husted (R) lost his voter suppression court cases.

    http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/11/federal-judge-on-ohios-ballot-order-democracy-dies-in-the-dark/264983/

How can anyone who has heard about the facts of the repeated attempts by Republicans in this past election to suppress the minority vote say they are worried about democracy while at the same time wishing these creeps had taken power?! It feels like it's the civil war all over again. College students at Ole Miss yelling racial slurs and rioting on election night? Disgusting. These un-democratic voter suppression tactics are going to come down to states rights you know. I hope Texas is ready for the wave of Hispanic voters emerging to turn Texas to a blue state.

You and the Republican party need to take a cold hard look at why they are on their way out of power. The only reason the Democrats didn't sweep the House of Representatives is because of the jerrymandering and abuse of power the Republicans used to keep their seats.

  • PatrickinHoustonPatrickinHouston November 2012

Take a good long look at the European union, because what's happening there right now is going to happen here in ten years, maybe less. The only difference is when the USSA is overwhelmed by it's debt there won't be anybody to bail us out. So let the moochers enjoy their obama phones, and let the slackers use their "safety net" as a hammock, enjoy it while you can...it won't last.

I agree this country may be on the brink of civil war, but the issue is fiscal policy, not race relations.

  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Patrick, Obama won, get over it, idk what Obama phones are, but hope you'll never come to need one. The "election season" is over, I don't care what you say, don't bother cause now, im REALLY done reading this topic. Yellow isn't saying what I don't already know, and all you do is put down the poor people who need "Obama phones"??? Wtf is that? Never mind, I just don't really care anymore.
  • PatrickinHoustonPatrickinHouston November 2012
Don't worry sky, I'll never be in need of financial assistance, I"m a rich republican.
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Jesus why do I still EVEN take your bait Patrick. Your money cant buy you real love baby, or necessarily get you into heaven. Not encouraging words to me to hear your far right views on Obama phones, when I just finished confiding in you MY cell phone situation. You cant blame me for wondering if your remarks were an attempt at taking some cheap shot at me.

If I could post a video RIGHT NOW, I'd jokingly post the Beatles "helter skelter" but im sure everyone who gets the pun behind it, would not perhaps realize, that I just didn't mean it as serious as all that . ..ok now im REALLY out of here...Patrick, before you sounded fair, now you just sound brainwashed.
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
So hey there, Patrick. Are u married? IF NOT, why then won't you just do a really good deed, and take a POORER person, like me or just take me, to Amsterdam next summer to see the Wall??? You know how karma is, I am SURE, if you did something wonderful will happen to you. :D
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Patrick, I was wondering then, can you give me a good job???? THATS how hard im trying so pls stop putting me down. Thank God not all "rich" ppl thumb their noses down at poor ppl, and thankfully, Roger doesn't either or id of never stuck around for this long.

Nothing personal Patrick. Too bad all that money couldn't buy your guy this election either.
  • PatrickinHoustonPatrickinHouston November 2012

Sky, my comment about obama phones was in reference to handing out goodies to buy votes, not about you. When exactly did you confide in me your cell phone situation?

Brainwashed? I have stated that obama is a socialist since these political discussions began, and I pity anybody that cannot see that to be true.

Take you to Amsterdam next summer? After all the verbal abuse you've fired at me the past few weeks, now THAT is rich.  Looks like karma just bit you.

As for a job, I'm afraid that like most businesses, I'll be looking at laying people off, not hiring/expanding.

  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Karma didn't bite me it bit you. After all the group hashing YOU subjected me to, nobody can blame me for that. You stooped to a very unadmirable low level just because.. WHY??? What had I done to you really up til then to deserve immature shit like "tag, im it" etc. At least jc and cymby had a reason to be temporarily offended and seeing better way, but you act like just any other forum basher. TO ME. fucking snob.

Anybody worth all that has no need to be boasting about firing ppl on a music forum.

And yes I did tell you about my WiFi situation. But who cares what do I care what you think you're probably all out of shape anyway for Amsterdam and handling me, lmao.
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
But you should be apologizing to me for that, first. I can never really take you serious otherwise or ever stop wondering of your true intentions with some if your posts like Obama phones for example already. I made peace with my older friends on here (meaning known longer than you) but you seemed to enjoy it more when they all seemed to hate on me for a minute.

Hey you got any pics? Who are you REALLY ?" maybe you should just get a fb page by now. Lots of Romney lovers on there
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
I actually liked you, thought of you as friendly, and the first chance you really got, you stickva knife in my back, is what that felt like.

Nobody should be getting in the middle of gfs and their disputes. Read up a little more what's going on in here. Or maybe you do but won't admit how deep you go on here if at all.

If you had been reading currently, im actually di happy this week, watching rw show with jc, cymby, Anita, and another coming up, etc:etc, seems like karmas going my way with all the great news from rw and co and what not. If he's happy im happy.
  • PatrickinHoustonPatrickinHouston November 2012

Boasting about firing people? I take no joy in layoffs, my worker bees make me money.

YOU are the one the starts ALL the wars on here, don't try to play the victim...and no, I don't want to login as you and see who said what about who, and the fake forum, and bla bla bla.

  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Whatever, no I don't, you don't know just like I said I did nothing but try to keep this forum going and rid it of scammers and spammers and its supposed to be free for all types of ppl not just who one white Republican guy wants to go on record approving of or not, and you come along months and months after the fact, thinks you can justify forum bashing me, and what should've been a guilty conscience for it, by perpetuating lies, like you do the Romney lies too. Yuk!!! rw and co know what happened, they know the truth, and at end of day no matter what you can say Patrick, THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME.

So, Obama won the election by landslide... HAPPY!!!
  • PatrickinHoustonPatrickinHouston November 2012

So when you threw a fit because I was posting to political discussions and not responding to something you posted...so when you started calling me YR's lap dog because you didn't think you were getting enough attention...that makes me a forum basher. Yeah, ok, got it.

  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
I called you lap dog because you wouldn't even acknowledge to me you're reasons until well after the fact. Its provocation and downright entrapment. Yeah oh, so pushing my buttons like that in the first place.. Hmmmn, that's ok but if I give you a FEELING about it, oh that's not??? Heaven forbid, oh my..
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
You mean you?? Don't take whatever hostility trip you got going out on me. I'm done trying to reason with your immature closed mind (that's why I prefer them older than me usually).

Anyway, if you want to hold a grudge, and probably feel like you're proving something by holding onto being called a lap dog or whatever, be my guest. I can just ignore you, too. Bye!!
  • PatrickinHoustonPatrickinHouston November 2012
If I could post a video right now, it would be "Helter Skelter"...the movie. You'd fit right in.
  • SkyBlueHopeSkyBlueHope November 2012
Can't you just be nice????? Seriously, its not scoring you brownie points and ppl got more important things to be thinking about, so, if all you are obviously open to apparently right now is antagonizing me, its just not going to work.

Or in other words: hey weirdo, lose my number!!!

I'm done, no more scrolling down to argue points, its not helping a single thing know it all.
